Privacy Policy

Jongeling Art & Numismatics B.V., trading as Jongeling Numismatic Auctions, The Netherlands, is the controller for the personal data described in this policy.

For any privacy question or request, please write to info@jongelingauctions.nl.

Collection assessments. When you submit the collection assessment form we receive your name, email address, country, the type of collection, a description of it, and — if you choose to provide them — an approximate number of items, certification status and an approximate value range. We also record your acknowledgement that you have read the Privacy Policy.

Photographs. You may attach up to three photographs of your collection. These are stored in private storage and are not publicly accessible.

Inventory documents. You may optionally upload one inventory document (PDF, Word, Excel, CSV or TXT). It is stored in separate private storage under a random filename and is not publicly accessible. If the document itself contains personal data, that data reaches us as part of the file.

Email correspondence. If you use a consignment enquiry link or write to us directly, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to tell us.

Administrator accounts. The private management area of this website is used only by us and requires an email address and password.

Newsletter. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address for the purpose of sending occasional auction announcements, catalogue releases and other news from Jongeling Numismatic Auctions. Newsletter subscriptions are managed through Mailchimp. We use your email address only for this purpose and do not use newsletter subscriptions to build marketing profiles. You can withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in every newsletter. Your newsletter subscription data is retained until you unsubscribe or otherwise withdraw your consent.

We do not use analytics software, advertising trackers, marketing pixels or tracking cookies on this website.

To assess whether a collection may be suitable for auction — because you have asked us to assess your collection with a view to a possible consignment. Where the assessment is made at your request in anticipation of a possible consignment, the processing is based on taking steps at your request prior to entering into a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

To answer enquiries and prepare a possible consignment — based on our legitimate interest in responding to you, or on the steps preceding a contract with you (Article 6(1)(b) and 6(1)(f) GDPR).

To operate and secure the website — based on our legitimate interest in a functioning, secure site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

To meet legal obligations — where we must keep records, for example for tax or accounting purposes (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR).

To send our newsletter — based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You may withdraw this consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the newsletter. Newsletter consent is separate from Collection Assessment processing and from any other purpose.

We ask only for what we need in order to judge whether a collection may suit one of our auctions. Most fields are optional, we do not ask for identity documents or financial details through this website, and we do not build marketing profiles.

We use Supabase as our database and file storage infrastructure. Assessment submissions, photographs and inventory documents are stored there in private, access-restricted storage. Website hosting and delivery is provided by our hosting platform. Email is handled by our email provider. These providers process data on our instructions under a data processing agreement, and only to deliver their service.

We use Mailchimp to manage newsletter subscriptions and distribute our newsletters. If you subscribe, your email address is processed through Mailchimp for this purpose. Newsletter subscriber data is not stored in Supabase or on our hosting platform.

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Our providers, including Mailchimp, may process or store data outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. Where a service provider processes personal data outside the European Economic Area, appropriate safeguards recognised under Chapter V of the GDPR are used where required, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or another recognised safeguard.

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections. Photographs and inventory documents are placed in private storage buckets: files are stored under random names, cannot be listed or downloaded by website visitors, and are readable only by us through authorised administrative access. Visitors who submit the assessment form cannot read, change or delete submissions — including their own. The management area of the site is restricted to our own administrator accounts.

Collection assessment information, photographs and uploaded inventory documents are kept for a maximum of twelve months after submission where the assessment does not lead to a consignment or another service. Deletion within that period is carried out by us as an administrative step; it is not an automated process.

If an assessment does lead to a consignment or another service, the relevant information may be kept longer, for as long as needed to deliver that service or to comply with legal obligations such as statutory accounting retention.

Email correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle the matter it concerns. You may ask us to delete your data earlier at any time.

Newsletter subscription data is retained for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe or otherwise withdraw your consent, we will stop using your email address for newsletter marketing, subject to any limited retention that may be necessary to record and respect your opt-out.

Under the GDPR you may ask us for access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, erasure, restriction of processing, and — where processing rests on consent or on a contract — a portable copy of the data you provided. You may object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and you may withdraw your consent at any time; withdrawal does not affect processing that already took place.

Newsletter subscription is voluntary. Processing of newsletter data is based on your consent, and you may withdraw that consent at any time by using the unsubscribe mechanism included in every newsletter. Withdrawing newsletter consent does not affect any Collection Assessment submission, consignment enquiry or other service you have requested from us. We never use pre-ticked consent boxes for newsletter subscription.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@jongelingauctions.nl. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within one month.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch supervisory authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or with the authority in your country of residence.

We will update this policy whenever the website’s actual functionality changes. The current version always appears on this page.
